Urban habitat: commonly found in disturbed sites, along roadsides, oil fields; thrives in full sun and partial shade, drought tolerant. 

Ecological function: disturbance-adapted colonizer; food for wildlife.

History: Native to South America, Verbana brasiliensis is currently found in temperate regions of Europe, North America, Mexico, Africa, and Australia. It is widely considered an invasive threat to native species. In its native range, Verbana species have been used medicinally for treatment of jaundice, gout, kidney stones, headache and to stimulate lactation.
